Broadband

Many people in the village are interested in broadband. BT made the Castle Combe exchange ready for broadband on the 4th May 2005, and several people have installed it, most with success. Things are still fragile at the outer extremities of the Universe (West Kington Wick). Check out the current situation at Broadband Availability Checker. Enter your phone number rather than your postcode if possible as it gives much more accurate results.

You may wish to check out alternative suppliers. Justin Millner, from Acton Turville has helped several people in the village. See http://www.dsmsystems.co.uk/ for his email address.

If you can't get broadband over the wire (which is the case for Box Cottage) it is possible to have a radio link to a friendly neighbour who can get broadband. I have been very lucky to have had the co-operation of Alex Beeley, who has endured the disruption of having an extra broadband phone line installed, another aerial put on the roof, and wires run around the loft to connect it all together. If anyone else cannot get broadband, but has a friendly neighbour in line of sight who can, please contact me for advice (email: Colin Walls)
