WILLING
HELPERS: an encouraging turn out at this meeting should ensure that sufficient
willing helpers will be available to sell tickets, steward the gardens, serve
the teas, sell the plants, etc etc!
MONEY RAISED
will go to maintain and repair the fabric of the church, with a percentage going
to Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
OTHER VILLAGE
MATTERS
Jeremy Charnaud reported on Neighbourhood Watch, and it was agreed that
he should write expressing concern at the declining police presence.
Mark Webb
proposed holding a social village BBQ on the evening before the Gardens
Day, another suggestion was that a BBQ be held as a fund raiser later in the
year.
A short
discussion took place on the future of the church. 12 windows need
repair or replacing at £1,000 each, two parts of the roof need attention at
£15,000 each – approximate figures. Income from the village more or less
matches annual expenditure with nothing left over for maintenance and repair.
Tim Holderness-Roddam asked the PCC to arrange an open meeting once the 2005
quinquennial report had been received.
Communication: We ask
you to help distribute Gardens Day flyers, which will be delivered to each
house (or download the
high resolution flyer (0.9Mb)
and print your own). Please contact us if you would like small or large laminated posters to
display at your place of work, shop, group, etc.
Hannah
Gutteridge offered the use of a decorated car for publicity – a great offer!
Tim thanked everyone for attending as
well as those who had given their apologies, and also those unable to attend who
are already working to make the day a great success.
